
St Francis College of Education launches “Ladies in STEM” programme

St Francis College of Education, Hohoe, has launched a seven-member “Ladies in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)” executive to encourage the interest of children in studying STEM programs.
These included Arthur Gertrude – President, Cobbold Deborah Vice President Misu Daniella Esinam Secretary Domey Evelyn Etornam, Financial Secretary Kumabia the Organizer, Phyllis Tengeh Abigail Atonement – Deputy Organizer, and Todzo Deborah, PRO.
Dr Adwoa Kwegyiriba who is the Principal of the College explained that the purpose group’s purpose was to bring the college’s STEM sessions ladies in a group to connect with primary schools as well as second cycle institutions so that more students to enrol in STEM training in the College.
She added that it was as per the plans of the government that started with the building of Science Senior High Schools. graduates of the College will become teachers teaching in schools.
Dr Kwegyiriba explained that the main objective of the team was to develop an activity plan to encourage students at senior high schools to take up STEM education upon entering Tertiary institutions.
They will include a variety of programs that will make students more aware at basic school and assist them as they prepare to be admitted to second cycle institutions to choose their preferred courses of study.
Dr Kwegyiriba stated that STEM is all-encompassing and that it could be used for everyday activities. However, when it comes to the recording of this, the task was viewed as a challenge.
The ladies achieved great success in STEM studies in the College and decided to help other students and offer them the necessary guidance and support.
Ms Gertrude Arthur Gertrude, President of the organization, is confident of taking STEM into the future and expanding the possibilities for women’s inclusion.
