BECE SHS Self Placement – Easy and Fast Steps

WAEC’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for Junior High schools in Ghana and West Africa is the official certificate required to enter Senior High school in Ghana and West Africa.

The Ministry of Education, Ghana has now made it possible for candidates of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) to check their placement online.

This article seeks to inform all candidates who sat for the 2021 BECE on how to check placement, the short code for checking placement and how to change school using self placement.

After the long cycle of basic education, every student wants to gain admission into a proper senior high school, vocational or technical institute, this adds up to the fulfillment you get for passing the exam.

All BECE candidates will be able to print out their CSSPS placement forms after the Ministry of Education Ghana has made it possible. This CSSPS placement form will give you a Senior High School to attend and pass it on to the school you have been placed in, this can help you get admitted on time to prevent any other challenges.

How to check 2023 BECE School Placement Online

All candidates who have passed their BECE can use the steps to check their BECE placement. This is the best and simplest way to check your BECE school placement.

1. Log on to the CSSPS BECE Placement Checker Portal
2. Enter your 10-digit BECE index number followed by the year. eg. 100000000020
3. Enter the eVoucher Code (12-digit voucher no.)
4. Click on the Proceed button
5. Wait for a new window with your School Placement to show up
6. Print the School Placement you received or save it as PDF to print later
7. Present it at your given Senior High School.

How Does the BECE Computerised Placement Work?

The Computerized School Selection and Placement CSSPS is an automated system developed to replace the labour method of selecting schools for candidates.

The CSSPS works under three main modes;

• Automatic Placement
• Self Placement
• Manual Placement

CSSPS Automatic Placement

With the CSSPS Automatic Placement, the system checks if the candidate’s aggregate falls within the merit of the course chosen for their first choice, the CSSPS then checks the student’s preferred residential status for space and places him or her accordingly. If the desired residential status is full, the CSSPS moves him or her to the second choice.

CSSPS Self Placement

This secondary option allows students who for some reason did not get a vacancy in any of their school choices to go into the CSSPS portal to select from schools with available vacancies.

What to Know about the CSSPS Self-Placement

• The CSSPS portal only displays schools with available vacancies.
• Students will be able to choose schools based on aggregate.
• Students can change schools as many as possible, but as soon as you enrol in a school, the option to select another school is gone.

Note: Do not leave your placement to cafe attendants to assist you, they might not have enough information to understand how the system works.
